Dow in the UK & Ireland

Dow in the UK & Ireland

The UK and Ireland is of significant importance to Dow as it is home to many of our key customers. In the UK, the Dow journey began over 120 years ago in 1897 – starting as a one product business in bleach and chemicals we quickly diversified. In the following years we embarked upon ground-breaking research which set the foundation for the company that many are familiar with today.

During the post-war era – Dow went through a period of increased product innovation and offerings were widened to serve the post-war consumer. During this time we also expanded globally and become a household name, having a global reach and forging a sustainable path to continued growth.

Dow employs nearly 1,000 people in the UK and Ireland – with employees spread across seven locations - Belfast in Ireland, Dewsbury and Birch Vale in the North of England, Milton Park in the West, King’s Lynn based in the East of England and Barry in Wales – The UK and Ireland headquarters is based in Staines in the South East of England.

The company makes a variety of products including crop protection, building and construction materials and monomers. It also has an established offering in producing packaging and specialty plastics.

Our success is built around our values of integrity, respect for people and protecting our planet.

The Dow family were one of the early pilgrims who sailed to New England in the 1630s. Our workforce is a diverse, vibrant and dedicated community, which provides challenging and stimulating employment opportunities. We do not seek to impose boundaries, but rather to provide the freedom to inspire our employees to develop new roles and skills.
